Full-time residents as of the application deadline in an accredited U.S. periodontal program in any year of residency are eligible to apply.

Co-applications are acceptable by no more than two authors, only if equal contribution to the research project by each student is confirmed by the graduate program director. The manuscript must be appropriate for submission to the Journal of Periodontology, but receipt of a Schoor Award is not contingent upon publication. Previous recipients of the Schoor Award may not re-apply, but unsuccessful applicants may re-apply up to two more times. Immediate family members of the Foundation Board of Directors, officers, and selection committee members are not eligible to apply.
