Charles W. Finley Visiting Scholar Education Grants

Up to five $2,000 grants are awarded annually to accredited U.S. periodontal programs to support visiting scholars who provide educational programming for residents, faculty, and the broader dental community.

The American Academy of Periodontology Foundation established Finley Visiting Scholar Education Grants to honor the memory of Dr. Charles W. Finley and all of the great periodontal leaders of the past, present, and future.

Eligibility

Accredited U.S. periodontal residency programs.

The grants must be matched by funds from each department or institution. Immediate family members of the AAP Foundation Board of Directors, officers, and selection committee members are not eligible to apply.

Application and Selection Procedure

Grants are selected by an award committee appointed by the AAP Foundation president. Additional, special grants may also be awarded directly by the Board of Directors.

April 1, 2027
Payment Schedule

Grants are paid following the selection committee’s decision.
